THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA’S DINING SERVICES CONTINUES TUTORING PROGRAM FOR A SECOND YEAR
Every Wednesday night, Bama Dining retail managers and supervisors volunteer two hours to help educate local elementary students.
Bama Dining began this program in the fall of 2009 to show its appreciation and dedication to its employees’ and their families. The free tutoring program and dinner is available for any child or grandchild of a Bama Dining employee. The sessions are held for two hours every Wednesday during the fall and spring school semesters. The tutoring program has been very successful over the past two years and Bama Dining intends to maintain the program as long as students continue to attend the sessions.
Beginning January 2011, Bama Dining will be the first Chick-fil-A licensee in the country to offer the New Spicy Chicken Sandwich. This new menu item will be served at the Chick-fil-A located in Stewart’s Corner at Lloyd Hall. Students are invited to visit Stewart's Corner after winter break to try the new Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich!
Solar Panel Golf Carts
As a leader in campus sustainability efforts, Bama Dining has used zero emission, electric utility carts for over 3 years. Bama Dining added two 100% solar powered carts to the fleet in October 2010. The University of Alabama was the first university to receive these production model carts with solar panels. These carts are efficient because they constantly recharge throughout the sunny Alabama day. They are also flexible as they may be charged in the traditional way if sunlight is not available for two consecutive days. Bama Dining is a champion of a Greener Way 4 UA.
